Wild Ties

Wild Ties is the oldest internet tie store the world. Chris Verrill started this internet business in 1995 and five years later successfully sold the company at a profit.

At the crest of the online revolution, Verrill gave old fashioned retail a high tech twist. Today doing business online is commonplace. In 1995, it was cutting edge. At a time when 62% of online retailers were losing money, his business and marketing expertise quickly made Wild Ties profitable. By combining time-honored marketing strategies in the emerging internet marketplace, he gained customers, closed sales, and built a successful small business.

Wild Ties, as featured in numerous USA publications including UCD Magazine, allowed Verrill to help shape this new industry by establishing one of the first online commerce sites on the internet. Yahoo! now lists over 100 online tie stores—and Wild Ties leads the pack. Verrill is proud to be one of the early pioneers and visionaries of the eCommerce revolution.

RichLink

After profitably selling Wild Ties, Chris Verrill spent two years as the Marketing and Communications Director of the Silicon Valley software innovator Sentius Corporation. At Sentius, the pioneer of RichLink dynamic contextual linking software, Verrill was responsible for all marketing and communications philosophy and practices and served as primary contact for external media inquiries.

In addition to managing the international public relations efforts, he directed the development and production of all creative marketing materials: print ad campaigns, direct marketing pieces, as well as collateral materials such as sales kits and presentations. Verrill redesigned the look, feel, content and lead capture of the corporate website and frequently wrote press releases and marketing materials designed to increase eCommerce sales.

An article in Silicon Valley’s Palo Alto Weekly, in an interview with Chris Verrill, explains how RichLink turns information into understanding and makes the web a more user-friendly place.
